God Will Heal Our Land

As a nation America is facing probably some of the most life-changing historic days that we have seen in our history. Many in the Body of Christ are seeing the need now for an intensive time of prayer for the United States. So we commit our hearts and spirits to see His will be done on earth as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:10). We are not here to divide up into political parties because man does not have the answer. Only God can bring the things that we are looking for in a blessing. Man will never achieve oneness, peace, or prosperity; these require the blessing of God. The true answers come as we touch Him.

When Solomon dedicated the Temple, he prayed to the Lord, “If Your people Israel are defeated before an enemy because they have sinned against You, and they return to You and confess Your name, and pray and make supplication before You in this house, then hear from heaven and forgive the sin of Your people Israel, and bring them back to the land which You have given to them and to their fathers” (2 Chronicles 6:24–25). Later when Israel sinned, their enemies were able to defeat them because of their actions.

Likewise, as great as America has been, it seems like something has defeated the initial purposes, plans, and objectives of what this country is all about.  We are looking for a restoration of this nation that goes back to a time of blessing, prosperity, peace, morality, and times of seeking God as a foundation of this country. We are looking for something to be restored. God help us to do this before America is lying in ruins around our feet. Solomon prayed, “No matter how bad it gets—even if everything is torn down—and they return to You with all their hearts in prayer and supplications, then maintain their cause, forgive Your people who have sinned against You, and bring them back to the land which You have given to their fathers” (see 2 Chronicles 6:38–39).

Solomon’s prayer represents a dedication, a restoration, and a relationship with the Father that applies not only to Israel, but also to the foreigner. As a nation of foreigners, we have standing before the King of all the earth because Solomon said, “Do according to all for which the foreigner calls to You, in order that all the peoples of the earth may know Your name, and fear You as do Your people Israel” (2 Chronicles 6:33). That must be our motivation. We are not trying to exalt ourselves as Americans. We are here for the Kingdom of God’s sake. We are saying, “Let Your name be great among all the nations. Let this nation be a light on the hill. Make the United States of America be an example of those foreigners who would come and enjoin themselves in the covenant of Israel to call upon Your name.”

So we humble ourselves and ask the Lord’s forgiveness in failing to perfectly live a Christian lifestyle. If we have lost His presence, we can regain it. Honestly ask the Lord, “Am I living my life according to the Scriptures in a true dedication to You?” Even if we have totally sinned and failed, His promise is absolute forgiveness. Father, we ask for Your grace. Restore us and cleanse us for Your name’s sake and for the sake of Your Kingdom.
