When you get into a hurricane, you see things flying all around you: barns, trees, cows, and whatever. From that perspective, the situation seems very confusing. But if you rise above the storm and look at it from a weather radar perspective, it becomes simple to understand. Likewise, if we could lift ourselves up out of the hurricane of world events transpiring around us and look from another perspective, we would gain clarity.
Yeshua (Jesus) taught us not to pray for superfluous things that God already knows we need (Matthew 6:7–8). The heart of the Lord’s Prayer is found in these two verses: “Our Father who is in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come” (Matthew 6:9–10).[1] The focus is on God and on the Kingdom of God. Yeshua lifts us up above all the distractions swirling around us and tells us to be focused on the Father. We are to go into our closet alone with the Father and close the door (Matthew 6:6). The emphasis is on the Father and our relationship with Him.
Instead of focusing on the beast, the false prophet, and all the plagues in the book of Revelation that make the end-time seem so scary, rise up to see what really matters. All those things are merely a result of God’s Kingdom being established. It is like standing in a hurricane, realizing that barns are flying by, roofs are coming off homes, and cars are turning upside down; it is a swirling mass of craziness. So Yeshua gives us this fixed focus on how to pray about what is important. If we can keep our focus on the fact that the Kingdom is displacing all other things, then we will be immovable. Our focus is on our Father who is in heaven; that is the premier focus of all that is happening, has happened, and will happen. Our Father is holy, and He is in charge.
The Kingdom of God is taking over the governments of the world. It is going to be a singular government where Christ as the King, representative of the Father, will rule the nations. He will rule with a rod of iron because not everyone is going to gracefully submit to this idea of the Kingdom of God coming to the earth (Psalm 2:9). Many rulers, dictators, governors, and even democracies are going to be displaced by this Kingdom that God is bringing forth. “For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever” (Matthew 6:13). That is really what we see transpiring in the world around us today.
So get up out of the middle of the hurricane and look at it from above. Look at what the Scriptures have been saying and recognize that everything is very simple to understand; it is exactly according to the plan. It is exactly what has been spoken about the Kingdom of God by John the Baptist and Yeshua over two thousand years ago and by the prophets before that about the son of David coming and setting up a kingdom. These are not strange things; they were spoken of long ago.
Do not let your heart be fearful. Do not let your spirit become passive or melt within you. Keep your focus on the Father. Keep worshipping Him as the Lord, the Creator of all. And keep speaking into existence, “Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”
