It is time for the great witness of the Messiah Yeshua to come forth in the earth, and according to His prayer in John 17, that witness is a result of the oneness of the Body of Christ.
“… that they may all be one; just as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me” (John 17:21).
The true witness that causes the world to believe will be seeing our oneness in everything we do. But creating oneness in the Body of Christ is probably the most difficult end-time event that will happen. We must be willing to hear each other’s hearts, including the anger, the misunderstandings, and the hurts. No matter how frustrated we are, we must come together to function in a commitment to oneness, a dedication to the unity of the Body. If we can speak the truth in love to one another our wounds will be healed.
The whole fulfillment of Christ is His Body coming together in oneness. Yet, throughout Christianity we see a lack of maturity, a lack of ability to reach into this greater oneness. Is it possible to bring down the principalities of division and the demonic forces that have been set to stop the will of God in our nation and in the earth for thousands of years? Yes, because He has given us His glory that we might be one.
“The glory which You have given Me I also have given to them, so that they may be one, just as We are one; I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and You loved them, just as You love Me” (John 17:22-23).
After the oneness of the Body is established, there is nothing left that we must accomplish; that oneness opens the door for every other fulfillment.
When the Day of Pentecost arrived, Peter and the eleven stood up as one man (Acts 2:14). That oneness brought the power of the Holy Spirit to the Body of Christ in the First Century. Do not lose sight of the fact that they had to pray and then draw lots to get to that point. It was a challenge to those men to go from drawing lots to agreeing on a new apostle. But they all backed it; they were determined to be one because as mature sons they were reaching to have a Word from the Lord and resolve their problems by finding a way to walk together with all their hearts.
In the days ahead, the Body of Christ will have to find answers to very difficult problems. We have just begun to be challenged with the problems that will face us as a people. When faced with finding answers, it is clear that the disciples considered it important that they be one. Sometimes the Lord will not give us a sure Word from God just to see if we will seek oneness. But if we are sincerely reaching for unity, even if we take a wrong turn, God will make it right.
