We Prepare to Enter the Presence of the King

Feb 15, 2021 | Blog

The Feast of Purim, also known as the Feast of Esther, is a time of great celebration in which the Jewish people rejoice in God’s deliverance for them from death and destruction. Symbolically, this feast anticipates the final vanquishing of satan from the earth for all mankind. As Christians and allies of the Jewish people, we celebrate this feast with them and thank God for His deliverance and grace for the nation of Israel today. We also allow the Father to care for us, holding us in His arms and defending us as His people, for only by God’s decree can we go free. Our hearts are seated with Christ and the Father in heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6).

In the Book of Esther, a critical moment of life and death caused Queen Esther to pray and fast with her people, the Jews. She wanted the Lord’s favor before going into the presence of the king with her request for justice. Esther had already faithfully experienced a preparation of myrrh oil for six months, as well as six months of spices. Myrrh represented a death to everything of Esther’s old life, so she could give herself to what God was asking of her. The sweet spices were put on Esther, so she would please the king and be accepted by him in her newness of life.

Today we are also in a time of great crisis. As God’s people, we are called to die to ourselves daily (1 Corinthians 15:31) and to live for Christ and His Kingdom. Each day, Esther was dedicated to experience the preparation necessary, so that she would please the king. As Christian believers, we must also be committed to this same preparation. We are told to wash ourselves in the blood of the Lamb (Revelation 7:14). And by faith we draw the fruit of the Holy Spirit and the personality of Christ that He has provided, for “His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness” (2 Peter 1:3). We clothe ourselves with the life of Christ.  Allowing God to thoroughly prepare us, creating a deeper maturity in our relationship with the Father as well as affecting the results He wants from us for the earth.

For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God” (Romans 8:19-21).

Before this Feast of Purim, pause and ask yourself if your preparation is complete. Are you ready to go into God’s throne room with confidence to intercede for His people and to minister life and deliverance? See if anything of the old has been missed and let God administer the myrrh to your heart. It is all by God’s grace. Know that when God speaks a Word, He enables you to do it.
