God’s Love for His People

Jun 21, 2021 | Blog

God, Who is love, wants His children to love each other. We are to reflect our Father’s exact nature. Even our faith works through this deep expression of love (see Galatians 5:6). Our fervent love for God and His children includes a deep love and acceptance for all of Israel as well. The Father loves Israel and declared, “Israel is My son, My firstborn” (Exodus 4:22).[i] God wants us to have a sincere, fervent love from the heart for each other and that includes a deep love for the Jewish people. For “whoever loves the Father loves the child born of Him” (1 John 5:1).

When Ezekiel saw the valley of dry bones, God replied, “These bones are the whole house of Israel” (Ezekiel 37:11). The people had been destroyed and their hope perished; yet, the LORD God of Israel declares,

“Behold, I will open your graves and cause you to come up out of your graves, My people; and I will bring you into the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves and caused you to come up out of your graves, My people. I will put My Spirit within you and you will come to life, and I will place you on your own land. Then you will know that I, the LORD, have spoken and done it,” declares the LORD. (Ezekiel 37:12–14)

Over the centuries, satan has sought to destroy the nation of Israel through pogroms and other devastations like the Holocaust. However, God still intends to fulfill His covenant promises to Abraham and his descendants. For God whose name is Faithful will place them again in the land of Israel—even if He has to raise them from the dead. That is the faith of Abraham. Abraham believed that God could raise Isaac from the dead (see Hebrews 11:17-19). For the sake of His name and by His integrity, God will fulfill His Word to the Jewish people. With rising expressions of anti-Semitism, Israel may feel like they are under annihilation from all the surrounding nations—but all that matters is the Word God has spoken to them. The LORD God declares, “Now I will restore the fortunes of Jacob and have mercy on the whole house of Israel. … I will not hide My face from them any longer, for I will have poured out My Spirit on the house of Israel” (Ezekiel 39:25, 29).

Israel has been through many devastating things but now God will bring a time of reversals and their mouths will be filled with laughter.

“Then our mouth was filled with laughter and our tongue with joyful shouting; then they said among the nations, ‘The LORD has done great things for them’” (Psalm 126:2).

The Father loves Israel His firstborn son and is pouring out His Spirit on the Jewish people. He is their God and dwells in the midst of Israel (see Joel 2:27). The Father will multiply them and honor them and His people will never be put to shame (see Jeremiah 30:19; Joel 2:26). These promises belong to the Jewish people. By God’s mercy we have been grafted into Abraham’s family as fellow heirs with them. In faith that works through love we prophesy with Ezekiel life to the Jewish people and create the complete fulfillment of every promise for their nation. Lord, pour out Your Spirit on Your people! By our faith and love we release “glory and honor and peace … to the Jew first” and then for all God’s children (Romans 2:10).
