He Is the Truth

God is truth. Yeshua (Jesus) is truth. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth. In contrast, satan is lie. According to John 8:44, “Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature.”[1] More than being a liar, satan is the lie. The end-time battle is a battle between truth and lie. It is the truth against the lie. As Christians, we need to recognize this because “our struggle is not against flesh and blood” (Ephesians 6:12). If we turn it into a political struggle, then we are dealing with things on a subjective human level. However, if we focus on the truth and the lie, then we are dealing with things objectively. It is not about a culture war, left versus right, or one political party against another. When we focus on these topics, we become subjective. What is good or bad anyway? It depends on who you are, your culture, and where you were raised.

I have been deeply concerned about the tremendous spirit of division that is working in this age and in our culture. But we must recognize that the battle of the end-time, the battle for the Kingdom is a battle of truth against the lie. When we put it in those terms, we are talking about God against satan. Now we can be objective because truth is objective. There are no gray areas. Something is either truth or it is a lie. “God is not a man, that He should lie” (Numbers 23:19). “It is impossible for God to lie” (Hebrews 6:18). “It is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth” (1 John 5:6). The Spirit of truth dwells in us and He will guide us into all the truth (John 16:13). Scripture after Scripture shows how the Trinity is one in being the Truth; the truth makes them one. There is no other truth other than God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. On the other hand, satan has no truth in him. As much as God is truth, the devil is lie. Satan comes to convince the whole world of a lie, but God comes to bring the truth and set us free from that lie (1 John 5:19; John 8:32).

As we mature and grow in God, we must come to the knowledge of the truth. Salvation is the first step, but then the Spirit must lead us into a relationship in the full knowledge of Him who is the truth. The Father is looking for those who can worship Him in spirit and in truth—but we cannot be filled with the lie and worship God. We cannot struggle under deception and speak or believe lies and be His worshipers. We only worship Him in spirit and in truth (John 4:24).

“I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it, and because no lie is of the truth” (1 John 2:21).

It is important to teach your children never to lie, for when you lie, you associate with the very nature of lie and chose satan as your father (John 8:44). But if we are filled with the Spirit of truth, we will know the truth (John 16:13, 18:37). As we come into the days of judgment, the lie will be exposed. As much as satan tries to hide, God will expose all the lies. In His fury, He will come like a hailstorm or a flood and “sweep away the refuge of lies” (Isaiah 28:17). It is the truth against the lie. Abide in God who is the truth; His Word is true, and He is true. God our Savior desires for “all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth” (1 Timothy 2:4). Choose God as your Father and be transformed into His image, which is the truth.
