A Passover of Deliverance – Episode 87

Apr 11, 2022

I believe that the biblical feasts are like windows of opportunity when God provides something specific for us as believers to move into. Passover is such a time that is specifically anointed for the deliverance from slavery and bondage. In preparing for the Passover this year, I am deeply burdened about the bondages that still hold Christians in captivity. And I am believing for this Passover to be a time of deliverance for God’s people.

Why do we as Christians celebrate the Jewish feasts? For one, they are biblical feasts. We are commanded in the Scriptures to keep them. But we are not keeping them by rote, just to follow a calendar. We are exercising our faith. We delve into the Scriptures to learn their meaning for us. When we recognize why God has given these feasts, we come to them with a deep faith in our hearts, looking for God to meet us at a special time that He appointed.

The Passover is one of these feasts that is obviously meaningful for us as Christians. Just as the first born of Israel were saved from death by the blood of a lamb, we are saved from eternal death and are brought into life in God by the blood of the Lamb, Yeshua HaMashiach (Jesus the Messiah). Yet the main aspect of Passover is the deliverance that came to the children of Israel after 400 years of slavery. God judged the gods they were serving and delivered them to serve Him. This anointing of deliverance at Passover is what the Lord has been burdening my heart about.

Even though we are forgiven of our sins and covered by the blood of the Lamb, the Body of Christ still suffers under slavery and bondage to things we should no longer be serving. Because of that bondage, we are not free to serve God. The Lord heard the cry of His people and led them out of their oppression into His presence to serve Him alone. This Passover, if your cry is to serve Him, and you know that your bondage – your addiction or your problem or your illness – stops you from being totally free to serve the Lord, reach into His deliverance that sets you free to serve Him alone in His presence.

Key Verses:

  • John 5:1-9. “There was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.”
  • Luke 4:16-21. “He has sent Me to proclaim release to the captives.”
  • Isaiah 61:1-3. “To proclaim liberty to captives and freedom to prisoners.”
  • John 8:36. “If the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.”
  • Isaiah 42:1-7. “To bring out prisoners from the dungeon.”
  • Exodus 3:2-8. “I have come down to deliver them from the power of the Egyptians.”
  • Acts 7:6-7. “After that they will come out and serve Me in this place.”
  • Philippians 3:21. “The power that He has even to subject all things to Himself.”
  • Exodus 10:24-26. “We ourselves do not know with what we shall serve the Lord.”
  • Exodus 20:1-6. “I am the Lord your God, who brought you … out of the house of slavery.”
  • Joshua 24:14-18. “The Lord our God is He who brought us … from the house of bondage.”

Quotes:

  • “It’s time that we no longer be prisoners to these other things that we serve. We are to be free. Whom the Lord sets free is free indeed. In Christ, we should be free. We shouldn’t be under bondage. We shouldn’t be captive. We shouldn’t be prisoners to anything other than the Lord.”
  • “We must understand this and have faith in Passover. Believe this to be a special window of time when God comes to answer your prayer. If you’re crying out in your suffering because of the bondage that you’re under, believe that God is ready to bring deliverance.”
  • “I believe this Passover could be a dramatic time of release for the Body of Christ. I believe we could see deliverances on a level that we have not seen before. I know we’ve seen many miracles, but I think the greatest need of miracle in this hour is the miracle need of deliverance from those things that enslave us.”

Takeaways:

  1. Passover is about the blood of the lamb that saved Israel from death. God delivered them because He heard their cry. And He judged the gods they were serving so that they would be free to serve Him.
  2. Have faith that God will hear your cry for deliverance and come down and answer that cry. Have faith that He will bring you up out of your slavery. He has the power to subject all things unto Himself. That includes the power to break the bondage of whatever you are addicted to, whatever you are suffering under.
  3. It is not enough that we be forgiven of our sin. We must be delivered from our bondage. He came to release us from the jail we are locked in and fully set us free so that we might serve Him. God is ready to bring deliverance, but we must be ready in our hearts to serve Him.
