The Crucifixion Of Christ – Part 1 – Episode 90

May 2, 2022

Throughout Church history, one of the fundamental excuses for the persecution, forced conversion, and killing of Jews has been the idea that the Jews were responsible for the death of Christ. Even today there are Christian doctrines promoting the belief that Jews will suffer and die in the Great Tribulation because they killed or rejected the Messiah. This podcast exposes the lie of assigning blame for the crucifixion by unfolding the true Scriptural and spiritual nature of Christ’s death on the cross.

Show Notes:

The death of Christ, by means of crucifixion, accomplished the plan and purpose of God for the salvation of humankind and the judgement of satan. Many elements, both spiritual and physical, had to fall in place for God’s plan and the fulfillment of prophecy to occur at the cross. Multiple individuals, including the Father, Yeshua (Jesus) Himself, the Romans, and Jewish people living in that day played a part in this fulfillment.

The dangerous and deadly deception that developed at the beginnings of the Church and persists to this day is the belief that the Jews alone, in their rejection of the Messiah, bear the blame for the death of Christ and therefore deserve to be punished. However, when you understand the prophecies of Scripture and see the detailed plan of God to bring salvation and reconcile the world to Himself, you realize how absurd and wrong it is to affix blame on the Jewish people.

I urge you to listen to this podcast and the podcasts that follow in this series on the crucifixion of Christ. At the same time dig into the Scriptures to see how the many aspects of tabernacle worship, the sacrifices for sin, and the prophecies of the Messiah all had fulfillment in the events of the cross. Let there be a deep repentance in the Church for the doctrines that foment anger, hatred, and anti-Semitism. Let us worship the Lord for the wonder of His cross and understand how all who were involved with it – Jews and Gentiles – fulfilled the Word of God and gave us salvation.

Key Verses:

  • John 10:17-18. “No one has taken it from Me, but I lay it down on my own initiative.”
  • 1 Corinthians 2:8. “If they had understood it they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.”
  • John 3:8. “The Son of God appeared … to destroy the works of the devil.”
  • Luke 22:3-4. “And Satan entered into Judas.”
  • Matthew 7:25. “His blood shall be on us and on our children!”
  • John 11:49-52. “It is expedient for you that one man die for the people.”
  • Luke 23:33. “Father forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.”
  • John 3:16. “God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son.”
  • 1 Corinthians 15:3. “Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures.”
  • 1 Peter 1:18-20. “With precious blood, as of a lamb … foreknown before the foundation of the world.”
  • Mark 15:29-32. “Save yourself, and come down from the cross!”
  • Genesis 3:15. “Her seed … shall bruise you on the head.”

Quotes:

  • “Yeshua did the most mystical thing that could be done in being our replacement and dying in our place so that we could receive forgiveness and be washed. Can we please, please Church, get out of this mentality, this lie that there has to be blame fixed.”
  • “The blame lies with all of these who were involved. And all of these were involved because each was playing their part in a miracle that would take place, which we call salvation.”
  • “Enter into a worship and a thankfulness to the Father and to Yeshua Himself who gave Himself for our atonement. And cast out every confusion and lie that says there’s a blame that must be placed on the Jewish people or anybody else.”

Takeaways:

  1. It was God’s plan that His Son suffer and die on the cross with the purpose of fulfilling His eternal plan for our salvation. So if you want to blame someone, you can blame God.
  2. When you say that the Jews killed Jesus, you are removing the accomplishment of Christ in His obedience, in choosing to lay His own life down and give it to God as the sacrifice.
  3. The humans involved in the crucifixion were manipulated by satan just as Adam and Eve were manipulated into disobedience. That does not remove their culpability, but you do not have a real picture of what happened if you do not see the influence of the demonic forces in the crucifixion.
  4. The Gentile world, represented by the Romans, were very culpable for the death of Yeshua on the cross. It makes no senses to blame the Jewish people and not the Romans when the Romans caused His suffering and pain and actual crucifixion.
