Sometimes when we participate in church, our vision can be too small. But God is doing a great thing that is far beyond our imagination (Ephesians 3:20). Whatever we can imagine, He is doing something greater. We know that God so loved the world that He sent His son (John 3:16). When we hear this, we think of the earth. But the Greek word here is kosmos, literally meaning “something ordered.” It can be translated as “the world, universe; inhabitants of the world.” Think of the vast expanse of everything that God made and then think about this verse again. God so loved this total creation that He sent His Son.
We think about Yeshua (Jesus) in the context of our salvation. Christ came to earth as the fullness of God in bodily form (Colossians 2:9). He went to the cross, died for our sins, and purchased our salvation. Yet God was doing something much bigger. The Father sent His Son because He loved the entire universe. Yeshua came here and saved mankind as the first step to building His Kingdom. Look up at the stars and think about everything that was created when God made the world. We still have not seen the limits of God’s creation. Christ was not just coming to save our sins; He was coming for the creation of a Kingdom that includes all the worlds. The reign of that Kingdom will be without end, and Christ’s Kingdom will absorb and rule over all His creation.
Yeshua came to release all creation—visible and invisible (Colossians 1:16). Satan’s rebellion against God polluted the heavens, and Adam and Eve in their sin of disobedience polluted the earth. Now all creation is crying out, “Deliver me!” (see Romans 8:22). Christ won the victory on the cross, but it is not happening instantly. That is why Yeshua had to go sit at the right hand of the Father until all creation was made subject to His name (Hebrews 10:12–13). We are in that process, and it is the most exciting time we could be in. We are actually part of the formation of that government as God establishes the Lordship of Christ over all creation.
Now you have to ask the question: “We know God is all powerful, so why couldn’t He just make it all happen at once? If Yeshua is given a name that is above every name, then why didn’t He instantly subject all things to Himself?” The answer is simple: the Father wants to include you in this process of subjecting all things under His feet. God has a destiny for you that goes way beyond a simple salvation experience. He is preparing you and including you in the establishment of His Kingdom throughout all of creation. What a wonderful inheritance! And the baptism of the Holy Spirit is the proof. “We have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to His purpose who works all things after the counsel of His will” (Ephesians 1:11).[1]
God has a plan for you and by His grace you are going to fulfill it. He is making you one of His sons (Ephesians 1:5). That word is neither feminine nor masculine; we are all sons of God. We know Christ was the Son of God, but He includes you in that relationship. And that release in your life brings all creation into the freedom of the glory of the children of God (Romans 8:19–21). What a tremendous destiny!
