Our June 2-10, 2024 Israel Solidarity Mission was Unique and Impactful

In a collaborative effort organized by Rabbi Weiss and members of our community, a group of committed volunteers traveled to Israel for a Solidarity Mission trip. This initiative was driven by an unwavering dedication from Rabbi Weiss and our community members to provide support where it was most needed, embodying our shared values and dedication to making a meaningful difference during the continued time of war.

The 2024 Israel Solidarity Tour Highlights Included:

  • Assisting Farmers: We engaged directly with the land, supported local farmers, many of whom are IDF reservists called to war, and helped maintain agricultural productivity during their absence.
  • Visits to Notable Organizations: The mission included insightful visits to the Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund and the IDF Widows and Orphans Organization (IDFWO), offering support and a glimpse into the impactful work being done in the community.
  • Cultural and Historical Tours: We explored the City of David, gaining insights into new and recent developments along with initiatives undertaken in response to the war.
  • Hatzalah Emergency Services: We connected with Hatzalah members in a show of support during the war, deepening an understanding of what they do, especially during this time of war.
  • Tour of Gaza Envelope and Soldier Visits: A tour of the Gaza Envelope and time with soldiers provided stunning firsthand perspectives on the challenges and resilience of those defending the country. We brought pizza for the Hebron soldiers and we made sure they knew that we stand with them.
  • First-Hand Experience of the Scope of the October 7 Attack: We visited the graveyard of cars destroyed by Hamas (near Netivot), as well as the site of the Nova Music Festival, and the city of Sderot where the police station battle had taken place.
  • Acts of Kindness: We made sandwiches for soldiers and packed food for the needy, embodying the mission’s spirit of solidarity and compassion.

This mission, more than a trip, was a heartfelt journey of support, a unique opportunity to contribute positively, learn how the Jewish people in Israel are personally experiencing life during this war, and stand in solidarity with them.

We have greatly appreciated everyone’s prayers for this meaningful endeavor.  We remain steadfast in our commitment to blessing the land and people of Israel, and supporting various nonprofit organizations operating there, their volunteers, and Rabbi Mordechai Weiss.  Through these acts of kindness and love, we aim to strengthen our bonds of friendship and solidarity with Israel and its people.

A Visit to Tel Hebron & Cave of Machpelah

We walked into a rocky, arid field, bordered by a metal fence, and guarded by two Israelis soldiers with Uzis. Only the sign “Welcome to Tel Hebron,” written in Hebrew, English, and Arabic let us know we were in an historic site. Tel Hebron had only been open for one...
