As we see the things transpiring in the world around us, it is easy to think God is not in control. Perhaps man is in control. Perhaps the devil is in control. It seems at times that the victory of Christ is nowhere to be seen. So, we need to learn to shift our focus. We need to look up and see what God is doing. Every year the biblical Fall Festivals remind us that God has not lost control—He is still bringing His Kingdom into this earth.

As we move into this time of the Fall Feasts, our attention should be on what God says about the purpose of these feasts and where they point us. They are to show us what is really taking place in this world from a heavenly perspective.

On the Day of Trumpets, the Lord called Moses to the top of Mount Sinai. At the sounding of the shofar, God came down into the earth. So, as we come to the Day of Trumpets, our expectation is that once again God is coming down.

From here we go into the 10 Days of Awe, which give us the opportunity to repent and change our fate. This is our opportunity to change our future. We then arrive at Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. This is not about just the forgiveness of our sin—it is about our sanctification and transformation, the complete removal of Adam’s nature from our being. We are to look up and behold Him who has been changed, who lives in His resurrection life. Likewise, we too find ourselves being changed from glory to glory into that same image.

Finally, there is Sukkot, the Feast of Tabernacles, when we behold the coming of the Kingdom of God and the Messiah dwelling among men. God wants us to look up, like John in the Book of Revelation, and see the vision of His coming—this great day when God tabernacles among men; these days are near.
